We provide on location and in-studio makeup and hair styling for your photo shoot. Our artists make sure you have the perfect camera-ready makeup and hair, using only the best products and techniques to ensure your look lasts the entire shoot. We provide services for photo shoots of all kinds, from corporate and commercial, to editorial, to pageant and acting headshots, boudoir, bridal, and everything in between. Our team offers on location makeup and hair services to help each client create their winning look. We also offer spray tans so that you get the perfect pageant glow. We love to help our clients put their best pageant face forward, whether that is through hair and makeup services or a pageant makeup lesson. Pageant lessons are a great way to gain the confidence, skills, and look necessary to take the crown. We are proud to say we have a long history of winning clients.
Daily Wear Natural and Daily Wear Glam lessons will focus on one look-either your daytime look or your night time look. It will go over techniques, the best colors for you, and how to accentuate your best features. This newfound knowledge gives clients a newly discovered sense of confidence. Great for all ages-from preteens learning makeup ropes for the first time to young professionals. It is ideal for clients of any age that just want to freshen up their approach to their makeup routine. In addition to the above description, the Daily Wear Glam lesson will also teach you contouring and lash application, so you can step up your look and be camera-ready.
Pageant lessons are intended for the client who participates in pageants and wants to perfect both her stage and interview makeup. This lesson will give the client in depth understanding of her face and facial structure, her coloring, and both why and how she applies her makeup for stage.
DO YOU HAVE A TEAM OF ARTISTS?
Yes, we are a makeup and hair artistry team that features artists handpicked and trained by Misty herself. We offer the strength of an amazing team so we can accommodate any size bridal party or occasion. Each artist is an artist in their own right with extensive training, all of our styles and techniques are very similar.
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD YOU BOOK YOUR APPOINTMENT?
Since all appointments are booked in a first come, first served manner we recommend that you book your appointment date as soon as you know your date, no matter how far out. We book up to 15 months in advance and would hate for you to miss your date!
HOW DO I SCHEDULE AND CONFIRM AN APPOINTMENT?
All appointments begin with an email through our contact form at the top of this webpage. All appointments are scheduled and confirmed once you have returned your signed contract and paid your deposit. This is always done through the office manager and generally via email. No appointment is confirmed without the payment of your non-refundable deposit. If you don’t hear back after 48 hours, please email directly at Misty@mistyrockwell.com.
ARE THERE SERVICE MINIMUMS? DO YOU OFFER VOLUME DISCOUNTS?
All wedding day appointments require a minimum of the bride’s services + 3 others. All prom and homecoming appointments require a minimum of 3 clients.
We do not offer volume discounts; we offer an inclusive package that automatically includes the items for which other companies typically charge extra. In addition to the fact of our work speaking for itself, you automatically receive your lash application and airbrush foundation included in our rates.
DO WE OFFER TRIAL APPOINTMENTS?
Yes, not only do we offer them, but we highly encourage them as well. A trial appointment offers a great way for you to ensure that you arrive at your wedding confident with your look. In addition, your trial is a great time for us to begin to get to know you prior to your big day. We find that clients have many different reasons for wanting a trial appointment- whatever your reason, we would love to have a trial appointment with you!
We offer trials Mondays through Thursdays. All trials are done on location, except for Misty’s clients which are done in her studio. There are additional rates that apply for on location appointments for Misty.
SHOULD I BRING A PHOTO OF THE LOOK I WANT?
Yes, because we feel it is a great way to familiarize ourselves with you and your style. Please keep in mind that your photo examples for hair should have your same hair color. For makeup photo examples, they should have the same eye color as well.
CAN I ADD ON ADDITIONAL SERVICES?
We are happy to add on additional services if time allows. Since we book multiple appointments in one day, there is a chance that adding on services after the fact may not work. With that in mind, we recommend trying to get as accurate a headcount as you can from the beginning.
IS THERE A CANCELLATION POLICY?
If you need to cancel an appointment because of weather, you must cancel in writing at least 24 hours before. We will simply reschedule for a time that works for both you and your artist. If you fail to notify us in writing at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment, you are responsible for the entire cost of your appointment.
If you need to change the start or end time of your appointment, there is a $50 fee for changing the time only. We base our schedule off the information you give us and also book additional appointments based on that same information so there is a small chance you may not be able to change the time.
HOW DO I MAKE PAYMENTS FOR MY APPOINTMENTS?
We make the following payment methods available:
-Check or Cash
-PayPal (includes a 3% convenience fee)
Your final payment is due two weeks prior to your event date.
FEES AND TRAVEL: DO WE TRAVEL OUTSIDE OF HOUSTON?
Yes, we are always happy to travel to any state or country for our clients. If it is outside the greater Houston area, the client is responsible for all travel fees, per artist (fees can include mileage and/or airfare, hotel, transport fees and valet, travel time fees, etc). General trip fees are mileage (at $1.75/mile per artist) and valet fee (if it applies).
ARE THERE ADDITIONAL FEES?
Yes, each fee below is per artist:
Valet parking: $20
Additional artist fee: $100
Extension styling fee: $25
$50 for a 7am or 7:30am start; $75 for a 6 or 6:30am start; $100 for a 5 or 5:30am start
WHAT IS AIRBRUSH MAKEUP?
Airbrush makeup is our most commonly used technique for foundation application. Unlike traditional makeup that is rubbed onto your skin, airbrushing sprays an incredibly fine mist so the makeup sits evenly on your skin while offering a coverage unlike ever before. Artists and clients alike love it for its flawless coverage and lasting effect (14-16 hours!). Airbrush makeup can offer either sheer or opaque coverage so no matter what, you always get a perfect, natural finish. Our airbrush makeup is hypoallergenic and works well on all skin tones and textures.
DO WE WORK WITH HAIR EXTENSIONS?
Yes, we do work with hair extensions as long as they are 100% human hair. Hair extensions add $25 per client, per appointment. Please let us know if we will be using extensions for your appointment.
ARE FALSE LASHES INCLUDED?
All makeup services include a false lash application. Opting out of the lashes does not change the cost of your service. Your artist will carry multiple lash options in their kit in order to provide you with the best lash for your eye shape. Clients can add a lash application a la carte for an additional $25.
SHOULD I TAN BEFORE MY APPOINTMENT?
If you want that extra glow or perfectly even, tan skin then a spray tan is a great option for you! We offer skilled spray tan applications at our studio and on location. We recommend scheduling your spray tan 48-72 hours prior to your event date. Please inquire about scheduling your tan and/or further prep for your tan.
DO WE OFFER MAKEUP LESSONS?
Yes! Misty offers pageant lessons and daily wear lessons. Lessons range in time from 2-3 hours in length. All lessons include a face chart (so you can take it with you and use it for practicing) and 10% off of any cosmetics you purchase at your lesson that day.
